Sharp Lines in the Spectrum of Nova

چکیده
FernalcTs discovery of the recent outburst of Nova RS Ophiuchi on July 14.1, 1958 (UT) was telephoned to the Mount Wilson Observatory from Berkeley by Dr. Leland E. Cunningham. The star reached maximum at about magnitude 5.0 later that night. It has since been reported that Peltier had observed the star at magnitude 11.1 on the previous night. I was the observer on the 60-inch telescope on the night that the call was received, and immediately commenced spectroscopic observations. The longest camera on the Cassegrain spectrograph was used in the photographic and visual regions, giving dispersions of 20 Â/mm and 30 Â/mm respectively. For observations in the infrared it was necessary to work at 60 Â/mm. Plates were taken at the 60-inch on six of the first eight nights, after which the 100and 200-inch telescopes were employed. I am very grateful to Drs. J. L. Greenstein, A. J. Deutsch, and J. B. Oke for loaning me their plates for this discussion. Parts of the blue and violet regions of the spectrum are illustrated in Plate I. Superimposed upon the very broad emission and possible absorption features are numerous sharp lines. It is

Low-and medium resolution spectra of the fast nova, Nova (V1494) Aql 1999 No.2 obtained approximately 6, 7, 19 and 28 days after the maximum brightness are presented and discussed. The spectrum covering the whole optical range at day 6 shows the principal plus diffuse-enhanced spectrum. The presence of strong Fe II multiplets with P-Cyg profiles suggest that V1494 Aql belongs to the " Fe II " c...

We summarize photometric and spectroscopic observations of V463 Sct (Nova Sct 2000), which was originally thought to be a red variable. The spectrum taken on 2000 March 16.81 UT showed prominent emission lines with a FHWM of 990 km s (Hα). The light curve shows a conspicuous premaximum halt lasting at least for 24 d, and a late-phase flare-like maximum. The nova then started rapidly fading at a...
متن کاملM 31 N 2005 - 09 c : a fast Fe ii nova in the disk of M 31
Context. Classical novae are quite frequent in M 31. However, very few spectra of M31 novae have been studied to date, especially during the early decline phase. Aims. Our aim is to study the photometric and spectral evolution of a M 31 nova event close to outburst. Methods. Here, we present photometric and spectroscopic observations of M31N 2005-09c, a classical nova in the disk of M 31, using...

Drug resistance enables cancer cells to break away from cytotoxic effect of anticancer drugs. Identification of resistant phenotype is very important because it can lead to effective treatment plan. There is an interest in developing classifying models of resistance phenotype based on the multivariate data. We have investigated a vibrational spectroscopic approach in order to characterize a...
